Video courtesey Maria Nunes.

This was a project involving schoolchildren from St Ann’s in Trinidad, and took place over a number of weeks to culminate in a performance at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain. The project started by introducing the kids to the instruments that we played and encouraging them to come up with ideas and motifs to create a composition.

At the same time, 5 were picked to start on the new string programme.  These workshops developed ideas and eventually the kids had developed enough as players that they could play in the piece too.  They became completely involved in the project as all the music came from their ideas and the result was a testament to their involvement.  Many thanks to Maria Nunes for creating a beautiful video of the whole process.
